Spoonful of Spoonie Encouragment

Mornings for those with a chronic illness are a struggle beyond words. Waking up and willing our bodies to function is a fight. Here is a spoonful of encouragement for spoonie warriors. Happy Monday, brave friend!

You have victoriously made it out of bed this morning. The symptoms and pain are already overwhelming, but you’ve got this. You only need to take today one minute at a time. You have all the strength you need, even though it might not seem that way. Anxiety and depression attempt to dictate your day. Take a breath. Take a break.  Get some rest. Keep fighting to make today the best day possible.

You have been chosen to walk this path. It is one filled with heartbreak, disappointment, and setbacks. Walking the path of someone who is chronically ill is a challenge to say the very least. Being sick has most likely disrupted your flawless rhythm with life. It has stopped you dead in your tracks. Your illness has tried to toss your dreams out the window.

Though this path is difficult, I assure you there is a lot of beauty to be discovered. Sure life is not what it used to be, but the song you sing is just as beautiful. There is hope, joy, love, laughter, and life to be found on this path. You will be able to recreate your wonderful dreams. You are still you, despite your illness. You are an amazing and beautiful person with a flawless story and a huge purpose.

There will be days that you become overwhelmed and feel completely alone. Your feelings are understandable, however, I promise you, you do not walk alone on this path. There are people who care about you, people who understand how difficult the journey is, and people who want to support you.

I am proud of all you have accomplished. I know you will thrive today. This week will be lovely simply because it is the only choice. While you don’t need to be positive all the time you need to take baby steps forward. You are doing amazing. Raise your coffee (or tea) to a great week warrior!

Happy Monday

Happy Monday, precious friends! Monday’s don’t have the best response in our society as we tend to focus on the negatives instead of the positives of the week ahead. Monday’s might not be your favorite day, but it is a lovely reminder that you have been blessed with another week of opportunities. Yes, there are plenty of struggles you will encounter and things you would prefer not doing but there are many positives of a new week. Pause to take in the simple treasures of life. Greet this new week with your beautiful smile and open arms. You will have victory over this week. You will be a blessing to a number of people. You, my friend, will thrive.

From Honest Moments With God:“My soul is dry and thirsts for You, True God, as a deer thirsts for water. Why am I so overwrought, Why am I so disturbed? Why can’t I just hope in God? Despite all my emotions, I will believe and praise the One who saves me, my God.” Psalm 42:1 & 11

“My soul is dry and thirsts for You, True God, as a deer thirsts for water. Why am I so overwrought, Why am I so disturbed? Why can’t I just hope in God? Despite all my emotions, I will believe and praise the One who saves me, my God.” Psalm 42:1 & 11

God,

Increase our soul’s thirst for You, the Living God. You have seen the tears cried behind closed doors. The ones in the dead of night. You understand the heartbreak of shattered dreams. The depth of the effects of broken relationships.

People mock me and question my faith. Asking where You are in my time of need. They question Your goodness. Question how You could allow suffering. I will remain unshaken, firm in Your promises.

Help me in this holy time, at Your feet, to pour my soul out to You. Enable me to be transparent. I surrender every burden, fear, question, and emotion. Empty me of myself. Free me from all the clutter in my heart and mind. Consume me with Your Spirit.

Direct me in Your precious love. Renew my hope day by day. You are my mighty protector. I rejoice in Your sovereign name. I have witnesses Your goodness all the days of my life. I extol Your Majestic name.

Amen

Valentine’s Day

It is a lovely day honoring those we love. To cherish our spouse. A day of cards and candies for children already sweet enough. On the other hand, it can feel discouraging for those who don’t have a significant other. Regardless of where you fall on this Valentine spectrum hear me out. In addition to the mushy stuff, today is a day to honor God, be compassionate to ourselves, and bless someone in our lives.

This day is more than a reminder of our precious love story. It is a reminder of the ultimate love story. “Because of this, the love of God is a reality among us: God sent His only Son into the world so that we could find true life through Him. This is the embodiment of true love: not that we have loved God first, but that He loved us and sent His unique Son on a special mission to become an atoning sacrifice for our sins. So, my loved ones, if God loved us so sacrificially, surely we should love one another” 1 John 4:911 The Voice Translation. Take time out of your busy schedule to sit down and have a quality quiet time in honor of Valentine’s day. Spending time with God will without a doubt sweeten your day! Try something different such as praising Him in a new way or writing out Scripture or recording your prayer.

The Father gently and compassionately handcrafted every cell in your body. He thoughtfully constructed your character. Zealously selecting your talents. The beauty He bestowed on you has depth beyond physical appearance. He delights in You. You dear friend, are the apple of His eye. God is pursuing you. He is doing a mighty and awe-inspiring work in your life beyond your dreams. Blessings are around the corner.

I want to encourage you, precious friend to take even just five minutes to be compassionate to yourself. It can be something extremely simple. A few examples include; making a cup of tea, reading a book, enjoying some time of silence, or doing a face mask.  Brothers and sisters, in light of all I have shared with you about God’s mercies, I urge you to offer your bodies as a living and holy sacrifice to God, a sacred offering that brings Him pleasure; this is your reasonable, essential worship Romans 12:1.

Lastly, do something sweet for someone outside of your family. Maybe even someone you aren’t close to or someone enduring a struggle. We love because He has first loved us. 1 John 4:19. We are called simply to love on another and to share one anothers burdens. Send a note of encouragement. Offer to help a new Mama with her children. Make a meal for someone who is chronically ill. Ask your friends how you can be specifically praying for them and then pray with them there. Find a simple way to let another person know that you care.

Wishing you a day consumed with love. A day of joy. Time to honor the Lord, those you love, and yourself.

Friday Encouragment

Happy Friday, friend! I am beaming with joy because you have made it another week. Despite the difficult moments, you have thrived. Moving forward each moment you have claimed victory. You have demonstrated grace and courage this past week.

As you pour your cup of coffee reflect on the moments of joy this past week. Remember the victories of this week. You have made progress. Your worth is not measured by your to-do list or other people’s expectations. You are cherished just because there is breath in your lungs. Treasured, simply because of the unique person you are.

Allowing yourself to rest is indeed moving forward. Your body works hard. Rest is not wasting time. Rather it is preparing you for whatever task you do next weather that is getting some water or going out to visit a friend.

Embrace this chilly and lovely day with an upbeat attitude.  Remain firm in hope. Laugh as much as possible. Enjoy the small blessings. Let thankfulness consume your precious heart. Sending spoons and hugs.

Holiday Season Encouragement

It should be the most wonderful time of year filled with cheer. Carefree. Merry and bright everything just right. Nine times out of ten that is not the reality. We put so much pressure on ourselves. Anxiety or depression (sometimes both) find their way into the holiday mix. The season becomes dreaded instead of cherished. It is tempting to push too much- to overcommit and over do it.

Try to not become consumed with all the things you want to get done. Focus on being in the moment.  Most importantly breathe. Additionally, focus on lowering stress levels. Don’t feel guilty asking for help or simply saying no. Take your time with the things you can do. Enjoy each moment. Don’t rush. You don’t need the extra stress.

Little victories and accomplishments are just as important as the big ones so remember to take note of them. Do not beat yourself up if things don’t seem to be just right or if you can’t do something you planned. You, my friend, are doing the absolute best that you can. Each day you put so much effort into various activities. You are a warrior who fights with grace. You have victory over this season and in every aspect of life. I am of you. You should be proud of all you do too.

Take a few moments each day to recharge. To simply breathe. Let’s kick depression and anxiety to the side (the best we can) and reclaim our holiday season with a joyful and thankful heart. I hope each day from here until Christmas is consumed with joy, laughter, love, and encouragement. I hope you are able to cherish the time with those you love. Sending many Christmas spoons and hugs. Though it might seem lonely, you are not truly alone, daily you are in my thoughts and prayers. My hope is that this post encourages you just a little bit.

December

Cherish this December making it one to remember. Soak in the lights. Lay aside the struggles of your fight. Christmas consumes the air. Priceless and rare. Time simply flys. The Christmas season has officially taken off. I hope laughter kisses your lips too many times to count. That dreams consume your thoughts. I pray joy fills your heart. That you are surrounded continually with beauty and love.  Open your heart. Allow this Christmas season to be completely unique and wonderful in its own way. I hope you are able to cherish each moment.

“The spirit of Christmas is the spirit of love and of generosity and of goodness. It illuminates the picture window of the soul, and we look out upon the world’s busy life and become more interested in people than in things.”  Thomas S. Monson Invest in the people in your life in simple ways. In between the business, remember to take time for you. Time to rest and reflect. You have grown as an individual. You have claimed victory over many trials which came so that you would become stronger. You, my friend, have come so far. I am proud of you. You are an encouragement. Your story is breathtaking and laced with beauty along with inspiration it will change lives. I pray your strength is renewed. The Lord will bless you greatly this season, be open to all he has to offer for you.I pray that you would encounter the Lord in a new way this Christmas season. That He would mold your heart in amazing ways as you dance closely in His embrace.

I pray you would have a flare free Christmas season. I hope that despite your pain you are able to enjoy this season of blessing. Cherish every moment with those you hold dear to your heart. Hold onto the Christmas spirit. I pray that this season would bless you with little to no pain, plenty of spoons, memories, joy, and love. “Have yourself a merry little Christmas, Let your heart be light From now on, our troubles will be out of sight.”
