To The Girl With The Bruises

Girls receive the message that they need to be flawless physically which is impossible. They are ashamed too often of bruises, rashes, stride marks, or other physical changes due to things outside of their control. No one should feel ashamed of their body because of their invisible fight. They hide the imperfections at all cost.

To the girl with the bruises from falling too often because your body cannot remain up right, your bruises are beautiful.

To the girl with the bruises from unknown causes, your bruises are beautiful.

To the girl with the bruises from bumping into things because of balance issues your bruises are beautiful.

To the girl with the bruises from a blood disorder, your bruises are beautiful.

To the girl with the bruises from abuse, your bruises are beautiful.

To the girl with the bruises battling her own body and daily fighting for her life, your bruises are beautiful.

Your bruises are a part of you for a few days, weeks, or maybe a season of life. They do not define you or tint your beauty. There is no reason for you to feel ashamed. Your bruises are beautiful because they represent your invisible fight against your body.

They are beautiful because they are proof that you never give up. You have courage, strength, and dedication pushing through the most difficult times. You might need a break or time for a melt down which is okay but you continue moving forward.

Your identity is not rooted in your looks. Your value more than skin deep. Your heart is stunning. You have courage that many people only fantasize about. You are an inspiration and a blessing beyond words. Sweet friend, your bruises are beautiful.

Spoonie Sisters

Spoonie Sisters,

You are stunning. Your smile impacts the atmosphere. Though you beautiful on the outside, your beauty is more than skin-deep. Every element of your personality contributes to your beauty. Your heart of compassion, hope, and joy shines through. Your victories, struggles, tears, and laughter – every note of the melody of your life has contributed to  your beauty.

You might feel that your illness or other ‘flaws’ has stolen your beauty. But darling that is so far from the truth. Your struggles have enhanced your beauty. Don’t compare yourself to a past version of you. Don’t compare yourself to family, friends, or women in the media. Illness and medication might alter how you look or see yourself, but I assure you that you are stunning despite the changes.

You have gracefully overcome many things. Your accomplishments are impressive. The little things do matter. You are a fighter, a true warrior.

Thank you for being an inspiring Spoonie Sister. Dance joyfully through this season of life, even when things are falling apart. Keep dreaming, keep moving forward, and never lose hope. The world needs your talents… it needs you.

Fabulous Friday

After becoming ill my skin has become very sensitive. My butterfly rash is another factor I must consider when choosing products now. I have had significant improvement with my butterfly rash, but it still makes an appearance when I am feeling extremely unwell. It is difficult to know what products are safe for me to use. I hate buying anything then finding out I cannot use it. Talk about wasteful.

I have been on the hunt for a new cleanser. I recently got a free sample of a face wash kit (I’m sure that is not the correct term for it). I thought the set was adorable, everything is mine but so far it has lasted me a few weeks. The set included: face wash, enzyme scrub, C serum, enzyme mist, cream, and sunscreen. The is by far the fanciest set I have tired.  This is the “hello beautiful” collection by MyChelle. It is for all/combination skin. “Here, it’s all about maintenance. Our All/ Combination products promote healthy skin, balance skin lipids, retain moisture and keep your skin’s barrier strong. That means good things (like nutrients and moisture) stays in, and nasty toxins, debris, and dirt stay out.”

I do like the set in general. The exfoliate does irritate my butterfly rash a bit, but I only use it twice a week. The serum, mist, and cream really helps with my butterfly rash and dryness. Dry skin seems to be another aspect of sensitive skin that I have encountered.  Products that are more natural seem to be highly beneficial for me currently. I’ve found that some preservatives bother me.

How do you cope with sensitive skin?

Fabulous Friday

Chronic illness and medications change us in various ways. Hopefully they improve our health to some degree. Sadly side effects come with every medication out there. If you are chronically ill there is a good chance you have heard of the lovely medication prednisone. Most people have a love hate relationship with prednisone.

prednisone-02

Today I am going to address only one of the side effects of prednisone. Moon face also known as chipmunk cheeks. This occurs because prednisone makes the body retain salt and water. The face swells up and becomes round. In perspective moon face is honestly not that bad. It is simply annoying.

Moon face tends to effect self image, negatively. If you are dealing with moon face currently, you are not alone, I’m right there with you. Yes, it stinks. It is difficult to deal with. Remember though you are on this roller coaster ride of a medication for a reason. It is tor help improve your health and to help you feel better. Hopefully it will throw you into remission quickly. No matter how round your face is you are still you and you are absolutely beautiful! Neither you beauty or your worth is measured by how you look today or how you use to look before your illness attacked. You are an amazing person, with so many talents, you are a warrior, you are courageous, and so much more.

I know many girls, myself included enjoy wearing some make up from time to time. You are perfect just the way you are. Beautiful without make up. If you do wear make up I want to share a few YouTube predisone make up videos with you. I personally do not wear make up everyday. However every so often I like to pretend to be normal. Wear make up, do my hair nicely, and dress up a bit.
